Why did you think this...
I agree with you 100%. I bought pages thinking it could replace MS Word after seeing Jobs demo at MacWorld a couple of years ago.
...if you knew this...
I am also sure that if you review the introduction of Pages at MacWorld it was intended to compete as a consumer product and not a replacement for Word by Steve Jobs.
?
I was going to say that it was not marketed-- at least initially-- as a Word-killer but it's obvious I don't need to convince you of that.
Anyway, I think MS Word and Pages are both good apps. :D

Don't believe everything you read on the web, this is 100% not true. If Apple was in the business of limiting devices sales to the US market, Verizon would have been a great option. Fortunately, or unfortunately, (depending on how you look at it) GSM is essentially the global standard for 2G, so AT&T or T-mobile would have been the only possible carriers for the iPhonePerhaps you meant not 100% true. I have heard, from multiple sources, that Verizon wanted more influence on the design of the phone, layout of the OS, and structure of apps and distribution, as well as a larger share of profit. If you have information which suggests otherwise, please do tell. As stated before, a GSM carrier makes more sense for a global phone. Now, with its proven success, perhaps Verizon would be more willing to make some concessions for marketing the iPhone in the USA, as this would greatly relieve the bandwidth burden AT&T is currently experiencing.

Once people, meaning women, are big enough that I figure they can't reach around behind them well enough to wipe their own butts, I get grossed out.

If I look at people with their iphones, i see like less than 5% using anything on their phones. And all of them use the Apple bumper on some iphone 4. I've seen hundreds of iphones in the wild, but I still have to see one non-bumper case in the wild.

So what is Apple waiting for with the iPhone 5?
Apple is adrift in a sea of uncertainty and confusion.
It was bound to happen, they've opened the door wide. The competition is rushing through.
This movie is getting very interesting.

yah the white iPhone looks fresh as hell!
Looks like a bar of soap. Which I guess is OK. It IS different, 'fresh', and will make a fashion statement for those who care about such things.

yes I agree the hands in both those pictures look extremely similar.
I am going to have to side with Samsung on this; apple stole their hand.
As far as the phones go? the looks are similar but still different looking.

The iPhone 4 will still be the best smartphone on the market when the iPhone 5 comes out.
Holding it back makes a lot of sense at this point.

if by "internal" you mean "inside the box," that seems unlikely. The main benefit of fiber optics is over distances greater than those inside a PC. Signals on PCB's travel at something like 25% of the speed of light (depending on dielectric), which may seem slow, but is very speedy compared to the long cables used to connect PCs to external peripherals.
Ah, gotcha. Guess I misread/misunderstood the info. So it's truly meant for peripheral devices and will not replace internal components. For some reason I thought it was a universal (internal/external) system. Oh well.
Still bummed there will not be a "Light Peak" PCIe for Mac Pro's.

I'm confused
I thought the latest rumor was for the 5 to retain the form factor of the 4 with no redesign till the 6 next year.
I like what I see here and will definitely be a player for it when and if it materializes.
I don't like the 4's thick and heavy look at all so for me this is a step in the right direction.

Yup, and that's irrelevant to the discussion. Phones that aren't granted access to that market are still counted as Android devices.
"Smartphone OS" is a totally meaningless metric. It's as useful as "laptop OS" versus "desktop OS". Yes, you can report on it, but it begs the question "why?". And the answer is (9 times out of 10) "to make us look good, even though we're losing the battle that really counts".
I'll agree with you that phones that don't include Android Market are included in total figures but the big players in Android are the likes of HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung e.t.c who all include access to Android Market, not to mention Google's 350,000 activations a day that all have access google services and in turn include the Market.
If people can't wake up to the fact that with regards to smartphone os market share, this is the way it's always been then that is their issue. Of course total iOS penetration can be counted in a different metric and there is nothing that anyone who wants to bash Apple can say to the massive success they've had. iOS is an unrivalled juggernaut as it stands today.
Where did you pluck your "This whole "smartphone OS" is something dreamed up in the last few weeks by Android apologists" Conspiracy from anyway? You must have had some basis to make that judgememt?

I guess apps for :apple:TV, or maybe an iOS layer for Mac (which would perfectly complement my suspicions of a Lion MacPad this summer).

Stopped by Irvine Spectum right now to exchange my case. They have plenty of cases by the way. There is a line though of people waiting to see if there will even be a shipment today. Looked like the line had about 10 people in it.

You both need to calm down. One of you wants flash, the other could do without. We get it.
And by the way Apple is under no obligation to offer you Flash or anything else for that matter, you knew before your purchase that Safari would never support Flash, consider yourself fortunate that Skyfire exists.
Thanks for the calm message. I just get upset when someone calls the CEO of a company a communist simply because the product lacks some feature they think they want. Those nonsense claims have no business on these forums.
On topic, I wonder if the ipad app will be any different? Perhaps they can embed the video in the website so it takes the place of the original flash content?
Good question. They are a well-financed company with products on a variety of handheld devices. Maybe they're reading these comments to see what people are saying; maybe not. If you have suggestions, I'd go on their website and tell them what you'd like.
Your question made me think of one interesting business possibility: maybe Skyfire will begin to offer consulting services to website owners to ease the conversion from of their media inventory from legacy Flash to HTML5 video.

Do you want to buy 4 iMac 27''? Really nice , but why??
And also, a couple of Time Capsules? What are you planning to do with a computer?
I imagine he's kitting out a lab / office. No matter how nice the machines are, 4 of them is a bit much for a personal user ;-)

iPhone 5 will be announced in September along with the iPad 3, which is also planned for that time. I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed the iPad 3 back a little though.
100% sure the iPhone 5 will not be out this summer.
