I just purchased a refurbished 2010 mac mini server and got it up and running only to find that I cant bring my files over from the time machine backup that I had for my old macbook pro. It looks like SLS does not support this. Is there anything I can do to get my music, photos etc from the time machine backup on my usb drive to the server?
I originally wanted to just install SL client instead of server but could not get that to work. When I booted from the SL retail 10.6.3 disk that I bought, the apple would change to a "no entry" logo and do nothing.
I figure if I can at least get my files from time machine onto the mini, I can live with it for now. I would assume that when lion comes out, it will allow me to install it and access my time machine backups. That's a lot to assume!
Any help will be greatly appreciated! :D

there is a separate magsafe board connecting to the logic board. I have done repairs where battery/power issue was the magsafe board, and repairs where battery/power issues was a faulty logic board. 95% of the time it is the logic board. Unless you can find someone who can check each component (I would try the magsafe board first since it's much faster) you might be stuck with a desktop notebook.

sorry for the late reply, I've been without internet, then I forgot about the post.
20 shipped is perfect.
wait, for both, or for one?
For one of them, I don't have a use for two.

Hi, what is the real life battery life for the Macbook Pro 2011 15". I have been trying to get more than 2 hours. Some times 3 when firefox is closed with wireless off. Battery life still shows 98% and the machine itself is around 8 weeks old. I checked with the local apple reseller (Middle east) and they run some sort of tests and told me the battery is good.
So, trying to figure out how much battery life I should really expect. I did all sort of SMC,PRAM resets and battery calibration. I have got High Res 15" with 8 GB of RAM. Also running C300 SSD.
Please share your experience with the model you have and how old your model is.
Thanks.

That HDD is compatible, as it has a maximum height of 9.5mm.

I have a European iPhone that was carrier unlocked (IMEI white-listed) and I'm using it on AT&T in the US. I want to jailbreak it so I can use TetherMe so I can tether it to an iPad/laptop when necessary.
I'm worried I'll lose my unlock if I jailbreak it. Can this happen?
Thanks!

bought imac in may, put 2 sticks of crucial 1 gig sticks popped them in felt the change, now its just kinda boggy ilooked at my activity monitor nothing out of the usual, i did have a few widgets up that i didnt know that were runnign i turned them off now i can feel a little bit of a change but with 2 gigs i would think this sucker would fly
Try taking that RAM out and putting the original Apple RAM back in (if you still have it). Atlease this will tell you if it is the RAM or not.

Personally I have nothing but bad experiences with Western Digital. I suggest Seagate. From a "Consumer" grade standpoint, the Barracuda XT 3.5" Internal Kitted Drive is great. Otherwise if you want server grade the Seagate Constellation brand is excellent as well.
Me too. I don't understand all the praise and 5-star reviews on Newegg on the Western Digital drives at all.

Probably not going to line up unless I have to. I'm a current Verizon user. I should be able to pre-order on the 3rd. Do you have to pick up the iPhone from the Apple store or what? How does that work? Maybe hit Total Wine on the if I do!
If you pre-order whether from Verizon or Apple it should ship directly to you. I am wondering if Apple is going to do pre-order for in-store pickup like they did with the first iPhone 4 launch.

On my MBP, I have replaced my Toshiba 750GB HD, with an Intel 250GB SSD drive. Before that I had Parallels and Win 7 on my Toshiba and assigned about 140GB out of 750GB for Windows 7. Now I intend to use my Toshiba as an external HD with a Macally FireWire 800 Storage Enclosure.
My question: When I connect the external Toshiba to my MBP for the first time, will I be able to remove the 140GB partition with Disk Utility? Will Disk Utility recognize that partition that was used by Windows with Parallels? How do I get rid of that partition, so that I can use the whole space for backup?

FWIW you can generally find a 2006/2007 iMac Core 2 Duo in full working condition cheaper than either a used mini or broken screen Macbook. ~$250-300.

I always remember it being available in the afternoon, right after the keynote. That's how it was with the iMac event and "The Beat Goes On".

Apple apps are not the only ones that won't update if not directly in the Applications Folder. What's the issue with "overcrowding"? How many are too many?

Computer: MBP (December 2010)
Primary OS: OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6
Secondary OS: Windows XP SP3 via Bootcamp
Windows drivers installed after installing XP? YES, I installed the drivers via the OS X installation disc.
Symptoms: When in Windows XP mode, I tried using a using a USB wireless mouse. However, the controls go semi-haywire when doing so. It appears to be producing rapid-clicking on its own. The problem goes away about 10 minutes after unplugging it (although it's wireless, I do have to plug in the USB receiver into the MBP).
Does anyone else have this problem? Any idea on a solution?
I tried playing with the Bootcamp control panel in Windows, as well as the USB devices options in the Windows XP control panel. No luck yet.
PS, the mouse is a plug-n-play device. No drivers needed.

I have a Windows 7 Professional .iso file (legally obtained) on my iMac. I used the file to set up a virtual machine with virtual box, but I decided I would rather use bootcamp (or at least try it) when I burned the file to a DVD and tried to set up Bootcamp I got a message that there was no bootable disc in the drive and I had to restart the computer in the Mac partition in order to eject the DVD. Is there something special I need to do to make the DVD bootable?
This is new territory for me so apologies if I am missing something simple.

4. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Sound like a good idea?
Not #4, The last time I did that my G5 Electrocuted me, and it wouldn't boot for a week!
I ned to get typing and do a few more classic pages! The plan is interesting, I just don't know how to work with the software well enough to help implement it!
