No woman was ever raped because of the kind of clothes she was wearing. Women are raped because people (almost exclusively men) choose to rape them.
While it is true that people can put themselves at a higher risk through certain activities, for a politician to blame a young girl for her own rape is absolutely disgusting. It's also nauseating and ignorant for politicians to suggest modest dress as a way to prevent rape. Such thinking is completely backward.
What's next from the conservative right? Sharia-style morality codes? Hmmm? You know, if women were always accompanied by male chaperones, many rapes could be prevented...

Yes, men should stop. And to prevent sexual assault women should dress in a classy way. I hope you're getting my point.
How many women have you personally raped because they looked like sluts? How many women have your friends raped because of how they looked? Have you or any of your friends ever been able to restrain yourself from raping a provocatively dressed woman?
If I personally knew someone who seriously entertained the notion of raping a woman, for whatever reason, I would do my best to see them get therapy at the very least.

You don't need to know a year ahead of Apple's product launch dates to run your business. There are lots of professionals using 5 year old software to get their millions of dollars of worth work done. I like software upgrades as much as the next guy, but just because it's cool to install new stuff, not that I'll be able to do much more than I can do right now with the new software.Big business will turn over machines every 2 years wether they need it or not. They have to budget for new equipment so they need to know what is down the pipeline.

 you've got to be joking right now. it's not supposed to be cushy, it's supposed to be horrible ...
I thought we'd left the idea of horrible back in the dark ages.
At least some of us have.
I saw the Swedish "Millennium series" films a few months back a couldn't help notice that when the protagonist was (wrongly) sent to prison, it looked more like a college dormitory than anything you'll see here in America.
likemyorbs would be horrified to see prisoners treated so humanely.

Interesting! So under your description Macromedia Studio/Adobe CS are free apps as well ;)
For one month. If you were a profesional you could potentially make enough money with the Adobe 30 day trials to pay for the full programs.
Whether or not you can be productive with it even with the limited time. Now if the program can be ran but you could not save what you produced out of it then it would not be free.

The oil embargo was caused by the invasion of Japan to Indochina.....
actually the embargo was a belated response to the japanese invasion of china in 1937 (Shanghai 250,00 chinese killed, Nanking with another 250,00 chinese killed), japan's attack on the soviets in 1938, japan's alliances with nazi germany (the anti-comintern pact in 1936 as an example), the start of WW2 in europe, etc
Among other things we basically placed them under an oil embargo their need for natural resources and they're inability to attain them from us in a peaceful manner encouraged them to invade.....
nope; that was japan's propaganda to justify the attack but it's a fantasy. The embargo was in response to japanese military invasions in asia and its alliance with nazi germany. WW2 had already started in europe before the embargo against the japanese was put in place.

Yay. I really wish that we could have Marshall/Eminem back as opposed to Slim. I do disagree with his comments:
But Encore just didn't have the caliber to match it
I guess enough time just ain't passed, yet
A couple more years, that s***'ll be ill-matic
Encore might be his best ever.

Some people obviously don't know the cost of staff downtime. Each day, how much longer does it take windows computer to boot up than a Mac? Minutes longer. Add that up over every single work day. Then add the anti-virus scans, annoying pop ups, etc.
I just saw someone spending 4 hours on the phone with issues of the accounting software not working on windows 7.
And it turned out to be the anti-virus, after half a day was wasted (and maybe an hour of my time too). That would have bought a Mac Mini or a new MacBook Air, which can run the same software with ease without security conflicts.

One of the tings I saw last year was that they are going to make their new cars feel more like what Americans are used to driving.
Go test drive a Camry/Malibu/Accord to find out what that feels like. :o
And that is a shame - since one of the few joys I had with my POC '99 New Beetle was how fun it was to drive. So much for fahrvergngen - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrvergngen
I have to admit I always thought the Fahrvergngen thing was a bit silly, but it did position the VWs as "different", something the new Jetta and Passat are emphatically not. They are intentionally more the same.

You'll be getting one?!?
Firstly, thats ridiculous
Secondly, the Fiesta looks way better ;)
Firstly, as well as school i've worked 20 hours a week for nearly a year at around 6.50 an hour. I'll leave you to work out how much i've got. So no, it's not really ridiculous.
Secondly, my parents are happy to pay insurance. I find that fair to be honest.
Yes the new fiestas look great but sadly are too expensive.
