Why concede? I think we are examining obesity pretty well as a group. Furthermore, the current level of obesity is really everyone's problem, as the level affects our society as a whole.
This lady in question though blows my mind as the article has framed it to appear that her goal is to gain weight. Perhaps the article misinterpreted what she meant.
I would agree that we have steered this conversation away from the "eeeewww she's a horrid, disgusting pig" comments to more abstract concepts. Kudos.

Afterward, in an attempt at "damage control", she said that the thousand-pound thing was more of a fantasy than an attainable goal, but by then, the exaggerated perceptions about her had spread too far.

They often get the signal that they're full, but ignore it. Food addiction does exist, and can be as difficult to manage as alcoholism or drug addiction.

If you only have 4 cores and I have 8 that isn't very much of a difference even taking into account the mhz discrepency. It might be worth trying to see if my 920 would be ok at stock speed with bigadv units.
well at stock speed it takes my 920 about 43 min per frame. Not bad, but I think that barely gets a bonus. But it is definitely worth it though

As for wanting / not wanting kids. I don't know. Part of me would like kids one day. On the other hand, I'm afraid I'd mess them up.

Not like bamboo cane or whip beating though, just paddle and maybe belt beating. TBH, in retrospect it really wasn't that bad, and I really did learn to be a pretty decent human being. I turned out just fine too, in fact, I'd like to think better than some of my peers. But that's a bit pretentious, so I digress.
There's obviously a large debate over child punishment though, with adamant supporters on either side of the fence. Which one is right is really a gray zone in my opinion, and while I would like to think soft punishment would be sufficient for my future kids, I definitely see the use for the other side. I think moderation is key in this area; I mean you don't want to see kids running around wild, but at the same time you shouldn't beat your kid senseless. Unfortunately, in today's society everything is construed as child abuse, and I fear that we have strayed a little too far left towards "soft" punishment. But that's just me, I'm sure many of you feel differently.

This is going to be huge for Mac OS X. UI Guidelines were great but could stagnant the look. The OS needs to look rich in colour.

Exactly. It's more than just the $5 for the app and the data cap/bandwidth issues. It is wear and tear on a machine that has to be left on 24/7. It is the hydro cost of running that machine 24/7 instead of turning it off when you go out (this alone may well add up to more than $20/year!) If you don't want your main machine on 24/7 then it is the cost of another Mac mini or NAS or other device to act as the server instead.
It is also wear and tear on your 2 TB drive that has to be on 24/7, as opposed to working more like a backup drive that's only activated occasionally to back up your music files. It is the hassle of ensuring AudioGalaxy and your server and your ISP internet connection are all up and running when you need them to be (dealing with power outages, internet outages, maintenance, restarts, software updates, etc.)
$20/year might well be worth it for the uptime and hydro considerations alone.

Watch them not have a white iphone 5. The main reason I waited on getting the iphone 4 was I wanted a white version. Hindsight being what it is... well actually I'm not sure I made the right decision, I think the white 3GS looks better. And at this stage, I'll see what at&t does this summer/fall with my unlimited plan and the new iphone 5 whenever it comes out. I doubt I'd jump ship to an android but I'll keep my options open.

I think if Apple gets the 6G iPod to the market before Argo, MS is dead in the water. People aren't going to buy an Argo after shelling out $300-400 for an iPod. Also once everyone sees their friends with the new iPod they wont want anything else. We all know Apple has done wonders making their player an icon.

The UV protection necessary for the white iPhone didn't come out of thin air. The added thickness was likely to provide an additional layer of protection. I'd be curious to see its innards, which is no doubt just around the corner. C'mon iFixit, rip it apart!

I have a question...
Even now they have Thunderbolt, I suppose we'd still require expensive video converters to be able to use the (27") iMac as a display for an Xbox 360/PS3?
I don't suppose Thunderbolt means we can now just use a simple cable adaptor or something, no?
