That's a tough call and a personal decision involving the trade off between power and portability.
Which would bother you more:
-not having a computer with you during the occasional times you travel, or
-not having the power of the iMac the majority of the time, when you're at home?
Personally, I think sacrificing the power of the iMac just so I had a laptop for the infrequent times I travel would bother me more. I prefer to purchase the type of computer that I need the majority of the time.
Of course, this is only valid if the difference in power between the MBP and the iMac you're considering is significant enough to notice.

I was thinking of upgrading my August 08 iMac to 10.7 when it releases, but have some software that I am not sure will work and dont want to lose in the upgrade and cant really afford to upgrade the software.
Does Vmware Fusion 3 work, Adobe CS 3, and Microsoft Office Student edition 2008 work on 10.7 Dev preview 2?
Thank you.

Link: Could regime change make NBC more receptive to Apples overtures (http://www.macbytes.com/link.php?sid=20100929114117)
Description:: NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker says hell step down after cable provider Comcast takes control of the company later this year. The news came as Jonathan Klein, president of CNN, was fired and replaced by Ken Jautz, the head of the networks sister channel HLN. This is, of course, the same NBC that repeatedly refuses to place content on iTunes. While Im sure this isnt the onlyor even the main issueit is certainly indicative of bad decision making.

hi folks, anyone experimented with the camera kit and sd /microsd cards once jailbroken? I'm curious about what file system access/sharing you can do and can't do.

I can not edit song info using my iTunes. When I do File->Get Info and then go to the info Tab all the fields appear to be read-only. I can not edit. Can anybody tell me how to do it?

I'm buying my first Mac, and I'd like to save a few bucks on the display. I've read good things about the Dell 2005FPW, for example, which can be had for under $600 depending on which specials they're running that week/day/hour.
Is the 20" Cinema Display that much ($400) better? They're both 20" wide aspect. Are there other displays I should look at? The widescreen part isn't the deciding factor, but I use it as a point of reference vs. the Apple display.

What's so bad about no Gilmour? This isn't Pink Floyd The Wall, it's Roger Waters The Wall. Plus The Wall is Waters' masterpiece. I can live without David's vocals on a few songs.

I have a 1991 Mac Classic, the screen on which died a decade or so ago, but which otherwise seems to boot up. I'm hoping to get files (e.g. e-mails, letters, college papers) off the hard drive and into a format that can be read by a modern computer. So far, no luck in finding someone with the right hardware to do this. The drive has what I am told is a scsi1 connection - two rows of 25 pins each. Any suggestions would be appreciated, particularly if they are within striking distance of the Cascadia (Oregon-BC) region.
Cheers!

Hahaha That was a problem with my wording- I mean I have it fully installed on a separate partition on my Hard drive. I am hesitant to install it to my main partition which I use every day.
Now would be a good time for me to mention that I have a MacBook Pro 13' (2009) with 4GB of Ram and 750 GB HardDrive.

TiddlyWiki (http://www.tiddlywiki.com/) is a beautiful wiki, written in javascript, and contained in a single html file. I stopped using it because it reports a javascript error in IE (windows - it is intended to be used with firefox though). I really liked the off-shoot GTDTiddlyWiki (http://shared.snapgrid.com/gtd_tiddlywiki.html), but haven't found an update to correct the javascript error (which was being caused by uppercase DIV tags and id's without quote marks. grrrr)

Yes, you can. Just go online to your account and it is a simple few clicks.
Thanks! I assume this will apply to the current billing cycle?

Hi there, thanks for the reply! This is definitely along the lines of what I was looking for, but it does look pretty advanced. I looked online but I couldn't find a good tutorial, it would be helpful if someone could help me come up with a quick command to batch create mp3 samples out of a directory of mp3s. That would be gold!:D

Crucial is quite cheap: http://www.crucial.com/uk/mac/index.aspx 33.58 for the 4GB RAM from them if you buy the two 2GB modules separately.

Yo
Its not working because of the quote marks around your background image syntax
IE can't handle
background-image: url('whatever.jpg');
has to be:
background-image: url(whatever.jpg);
I ran my head into the wall for hours one day trying to figure that out. GL.

Possibly so that they can process most of the people with reservations before starting with the people without? After all, it wouldn't be fair if they had lots of spare units and started letting people just walk in and buy one, with people in the reservation line having to wait.

its not creaking yet but it creaks when i push the plastic myself, im wondering if everyones does that.Mine does the same thing. Think about this for a second, it's a plastic part on a metal frame. The plastic Apple used for this part is not soft plastic, it's a harder type, so it will creak when pushed against metal.
