Does anybody know when and wether at all google maps update 5.0 (and above) will come to iOS? I mean Apple pays to Google for the maps right?
No, it won't, IMO. The iPhone maps app hasn't changed in 4 years, and has not received updates other times.
Do expect to see Apple's own maps/app/navigation in iOS 5 though.

Norwich is my store of choice too. I'm hoping to get there between 1 and 2pm-hopefully this'll get me a good place in the queue!

I think it's pretty awesome how Microsoft was pushing tablets for ages, to no avail, and then Apple comes along with their tablet and wipes the floor with everyone; pulling in buyers who aren't/weren't even Apple fans before.

Yes you are tight. I have an external drive and time machine. I am going to copy the folders to both. I am wondering if after I copy them and then delete them from events if I wanted to use them for Imovie I would be able to imprt them from external drive back to event if needed.
thanks for your patience

I know this sounds like a minor little problem, but I took DAYS getting those songs rated and I would HATE to have to do that again! The songs ARE still rated on the iPod; I can see the ratings when I click the iPod icon in the "source" pane on the left. How do I get them all back into iTunes?
Thanks for any help!!

:( I'm not entirely sure it's possible. I've had a series of issues with my ipod (2nd gen 10GB) and usually the ratings, start/end changes, dB adjustments, etc. end up getting wiped out whenever there's a major problem.
In all likelihood, you'll have to copy the songs back to the machine and start over.
Who knows tho. I might be wrong. Which apps are you using to pull the files off the ipod?

This just popped up on my Tivo (I have a standing wishlist for MacWorld):
Today 1/9, 12:00pm EST (when the keynote starts), a program called In Focus. This is a regular program. The topic is "MacWorld kicks off." No idea what they have planned.
Channel 353 on DirecTV.

I've a Mac Pro 1.1 and have been running games under Windows 7 for a couple years now (previously XP) just fine. However, my x1900xt - which has somehow managed NOT to fail like everybody else's, is really starting to show it's age.
In lieu of Skyrim being released in this upcoming November, I've been considering saving up and buying a second rig entirely devoted to PC gaming. Now, however, with the 5770 available for the Mac Pro, I'm wondering if it's worth simply going with that and saving myself a lot of money?
Have any of you had a similar dilemma, and if so what would you recommend?
I intend to run games at my monitor's native resolution of 1900x1080.

That's strange, the console version should be a bit faster then the gui version. Especially on older/slower machines. All of the cpu power goes to crunching the WU, there isn't a bit that helps the graphics card making the picture, so the console version should be faster.
I see where you're coming from but the gui client only has a gui if you tell it to display the protein. it defaults to not showing so there is nothing to use system resources.
I have folded 8 large units on my G4 500 and all of them got 10% or so in the time it took the terminal client to get about 1-2%. using the gui client I had it set to accept the proteins above 5mb. it always took about 8-10 days to do 1 wu and I would get about 250+ points for each so they were large.

i THINK (someoen else should check on this) there is a age limit-I believe that you must be at least 16 or something like that or have a parent with you-i am not 100% positive i just remember that there might have been something about it when i was registering
again I am not positive and i would like someone else to check on this because I am not totally sure-i am just going off of what i believe i recall

It must be there for a reason, otherwise they wouldn't put it in there. This is Apple, you have to remember.

My mom is trying to catalog my dad's huge CD collection. Some is already in iTunes, and the rest could easily be put there. He wants to be able to have printed lists according to his whim-of-the-day, such as which recordings do I have with singer X? A list of all his recordings of opera Y, in release order, etc.
Because my mom's hands hurt her, she can't do extended typing. This should ideally be a program that lets you import the CDs into iTunes, then let the cataloging program import them. Printing of good lists is essential - my dad won't be using the computer screen, my mom will be printing these things out for him. She's a smart lady, and has a reasonably good grasp of how to use her iMac, so typing in the "smart list" terms and generating the lists is not a problem for her.
It looks to me like Delicious Librar (http://delicious-monster.com/)y just might do this for her. It's more than she needs, but it's not expensive, and it will import from iTunes. CDpedia (http://www.bruji.com/cdpedia/) doesn't have a print function, as far as I can see, so I've ruled it out.
Free programs are nice, but I want this to be EASY for her, so I'll spend some money on it if need be.
Thoughts?

Air video is by far my more favourite app, especially since the airplay inclusion. No more converting, and can stream stuff, using my ipad as a sort of remote, whatever is on my hard drive, or itunes library. Love it.

I have the amp connected to the headphone jack. Works fine for me and the cable didn't cost $33. :-)
My headphone jack is bad. You can't repair it, as it's soldered to the logic board.

Hello!
I have just moved to Edinburgh, Scotland (a beautiful city!) to work abroad for 6 months or so... I have a powermac at home (in the States) that I thought would be unreasonable to bring with me overseas, and have been planning to get a powerbook when I got here. I had been holding off on ordering one until the Paris Expo in case a new revision was announced, but seeing as the chances of that are quite slim, I am considering just getting one. I do, however, have a few concerns.
I do want a US model, with the US keyboard layout and everything. I also assume that they can take a 220v power line, correct? So I would only need a plug adapter? Also, will it cost an arm and a leg to send the powerbook here, if I order a US model? Not expactly sure how this works... any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello. I have a battery from an iBook G3 that has not been used in over a year. It has been sitting in my closet because my iBook died due to the dreaded graphics card problem. My buddy has an iBook G3 and I was wondering if the battery would hold charge after sitting for a year. The last time I used it, it could hold about 2 1/2 hours.
