Without even stepping into the whole "they're lying/they're not lying" debate, and since iOS and Android are the only really choices out there, I'm going with the option that doesn't have its sole business model built on knowing as much as possible about me and sharing it with third parties.
To anyone that thinks Google is giving that OS away for free for altruistic reasons, I have a bridge you might be interested in. ;)

Why not? The USA for example has only 4 million miles of roads. A car with driver + passenger + some decent equipment should be able to map say 10 miles per hour, at a cost of $50 per hour.

If you're outside the U.S. though, the shipping and duties will cost a pretty penny. That one and the other one like it cost me almost $80 to get them to Nova Scotia, Canada when all was said and done.

I'm not sure you would describe it as "caning" but Android phones comfortably outsold the iPhone last year.

That's not at all what's at discussion in this thread. We're talking OS penetration, not phones sold. The statement was made that although iOS is comfortably in the lead in the US, that it's behind in the rest of the world. Given the closeness of the phone units sold, I'd be _VERY_ surprised if iOS had a lower penetration than Android.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Unfortunately it panics even without the cards - turn on bong, them white screen with apple logo then grey screen with power symbol saying you need to restart your computer and over the top of it all some script about the 'unresolved kernal trap(cpu0)
Would it help if I posted the script or anything from it?
btw the ticking seems to be coming from the back of the power supply near the inlet. Non of the fans are twitching etc

I saw the Swedish "Millennium series" films a few months back a couldn't help notice that when the protagonist was (wrongly) sent to prison, it looked more like a college dormitory than anything you'll see here in America.

Treating them humanely and treating them like they're staying at a five star hotel are two different things. You're not supposed to make it so nice that people want to go there to escape the real world. Why should my tax dollars go to playstations and internet access for child molesters and murderers? That's beyond humane, that's just plain idiotic. Why don't we just provide them with their own butlers and maid service while we're at it? How about a cell phone too? :rolleyes: What a joke, this forum sometimes feels like the twilight zone.

i love these threads, i always find so many useful things.
aps that i use everyday are:
sidetrack: i don't know what i'd do without it. i hear that next revision we will start having to pay for it though.
adium: the only way i've managed to get both aim and msn file transfers to work + it looks amazing
menu calendar: i believe that while it is not free for full features you can still use the basic ones without paying. i've somehow managed to anyway. i really like having the date number in my menubar.
clear dock: not really needed but i like it
quicksilver: i can imagine not having this program, it makes life so much easier.
bytecontroller: control itunes from your menubar
gcount: gmail notifier
firefox: i find that it is faster than safari and i've just generally taken a liking to it.

I played with a Samsung Blackjack this weekend and boy was that sweet (other than it was running MSMobile). I really hope Apple comes out with something like the Blackjack except with their own mobile OS.

Not really, Tower Records wasn't working because they didn't move online with their catalogue quickly enough. The commercial real estate is getting way overpriced.

So i bought this 1.5TB external hard drive and didnt see it required reformatting or i wouldnt of bought it. So now i plug it into my mac, go to disk utilities and it doesnt even pick it up. Its just picking up my normal mac hard drive.

I decided to delete my previous windows partition. I ran out of room and could not find a safe away to add more room.
I am reinstalling Windows with 32gb. I am having trouble with this one question.
Where do you want to install windows?

I've been waiting 4 years to get an iPhone, and now that Verizon has the iPhone, I can finally get one when my contract is up for renewal this December :D However, it appears that Apple is no longer at the forefront of mobile technology. Even with the release of the iPhone 5 in the fall, I bet it will still be last years tech.
